Well, here's the list of major events for 2011 and my thoughts on them.
Asia Qualifiers 2011
Deck used: Whirlwind BF
For this qualifier, we had to go through a tough fight of 7 swiss rounds. Adding to the fact that everyone woke up quite early for registration, you can be sure that all of us had a tough time. I only managed to get a subpar score of 4-3, winning all 3 matches again Six Samurais and losing 3 mirror matches. Needless to say, wasn't really proud of my performance, but i felt that i did my best and I was very comfortable with playing Whirlwind BF at that time.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Open Series #2 (Hosted by Cardmasters)

I was really proud of myself when i actually won this event. Although this wasn't an official event, it was still considered quite a big one, with almost 50 participants and a PS3 up for grabs. Since this event was using the March Banlist (The asia qualifier was still using the old banlist), it was difficult for everyone to choose what type of decks to pilot for the fresh and new format. Regardless, I was able to climb all the way to the top and get myself my very first 1st place for a big event!
Singapore Worlds Qualifier 2011
Deck used: Six Samurai
Deck used: Six Samurai
Wasn't really planning on using Six Samurai, but I was playing with it for a few weeks by then and it was really growing on me. I was playing the Japanese build, which focused on control and making of use Royal Oppression. Sad to say, i scrubbed with a miserable score of 1-4 for the final standings.
Deck used: Agent Angels
For this qualifier, there were actually 4 rounds of Pre-Qualifiers that allowed direct seeding into Top 8 for the main event. My team, consisting of Johann (awesomehazelnuts), Vishal (avengingknight) and myself took part and won the very first qualifier! So, we were directly brought forward to Top 8 for the main event. Sad to say, we lost on the actual day during Top 8 to the eventual runner-up for the entire event. Still, I believed that we tried our best and we can only hope for the better next year, if 2012 isn't the end of the world :)
Top Shop of Asia: Singapore Qualifers
Deck used: T.G. Agents

This, hands-down, had to be the biggest highlight of my entire year! It was a brand new official event whereby local card shops choose their representatives to fight it out to become Asia's number 1 card shop. I was representing Thousand Taste Trading and i managed to clinch 1st place after the dust cleared.
I had to face many strong opponents along the way, such as Vishal, my teammate for Asia Plus and Jeff, agreed by majority as the strongest player in Singapore. As a player, achievements were of much importance to me. Hence, being the very first official event i topped ever since i started playing competitively in 2009, it was really a huge accomplishment for me.
I then proceeded to travel to Taiwan for the Asia Plus Championships, together with William, Nian Jie, Daniel, Anthony and DS, accompanied by the distributor. Sad to say, I scrubbed badly at the main event. However, i had much fun and it was all very valuable experience.
So, that's the sum-up of my year for 2011. Here's hoping that 2012 will be an even better year for me! Especially since the Asia Championships 2012 will be held in Singapore!
Hope 2012 will be great for everyone! Happy New Year!
