Holidays are coming to an end...

Ya, i realized that i haven't been active in YGO much during the holidays either. -_-


Because of my little brother's preparation for PSLE, i haven't been able to play much. The only times i remember playing quite a lot is during the pre-selections for Asia Qualifiers. I guess i will put out some time from schoolwork to go down to the locals like my first semester.


Anyways, back on track here, scrubbed during last week's pre-selection @ Gamehaven. So, i'm hoping that this week, i can hopefully secure a place in the Top 8. I promise a tournament report this Sunday after i come back, regardless of whether i scrubbed or not.


Using a very uncommon deck for this last selection =P


Hope it gives me an edge over the other expected decks.


I guess that's all i have, not much ideas to work on right now, unless someone can sell me 1 Volcanic Shell XD It's ok i guess, i have 2 deck lists in mind for 2 articles which i think i will be typing out next week, either in class or at home. Game 1 : Kept on using Solemn Warning on his gadget and Gearframe, which allowed me to swarm and win
Game 2 : Holy Light controlled me, with a monster hand
Game 3 : Skill Drain helped me win this game. He completely didn't expect it.


So i auto Top 4'ed, if there is such a word.


Here comes the stupid part. Had to leave early, so i passed Wee Min my deck and asked him to play for me, which got me 4th, and a PP4.

There was supposed to be a normal tourney, but there wasn't enough people, so it was canceled. I spent the afternoon testing Chest BF with random decks like mirror match, Hero Beat, Infernity (with Barrier), X-Sabers (TCG) and other kinds of random stuff. Nobody was selling Trishula, so i didn't get a chance to buy 1.

Sad.

I think i'll try to go for another selection, most likely the fourth one. $12 is damm pain ok?

In other news, i'm totally hyped up about next week's selection. Too bad i had to miss the one happening today. In anticipation to it, i went to dig up my pile of cards in the storeroom for some inspiration, but all i found was....A LOT of Volcanic Shells.


LOL!


An omen? Or just to show how stupid i was when Force of the Breaker came out? I have no idea.


But it's cool. I'll most probably edit my Sabers abit more until i think it's ready to bring to some tournament where i won't see any Darksouls... @_@ no money buy.

Back! Progress Report!

Back from my class chalet that was on Monday to Wednesday.



Here's a little update on some deck's i've been working on, and will be working/testing out in the next few days!


#1 : X-Sabers!

I'm working on a OCG build, with no Boggart Knight and Darksoul, mainly cause i have no money for them. Still tweeking around with some card choices and other stuff. Main issues are those which Darksoul helps prevents, which are dead Faultrolls and even losses of advantage.


#2 : Synchro Dog!



Yes! With Hamsters now available to us, i'm looking forward to testing this deck out. Slightly hyped in the first YCS of the September Banlist, this is what Synchro Cat has became with the banning of Rescue Cat, a core card. Thus, the deck now focuses on the Flamvell part of the deck, gaining access to multiple Synchro Summons in a single turn, something else Flamvell's are famous for, due to Rekindling.


#3 : Moja


Fun deck! Favorite combos include summoning Beast Striker and discarding Plaguespreader/Grow-up Bulb. Weaknesses includes the fact that the deck focuses too much on the summoning of King of the Beast, that removal from cards such as Caius, Dimensional Prison and Bottomless Trap Hole.

A lot of combos formed in my head while i was reading all of each and everyone of their effects. General support for this theme could be :

- Maybe even those Beast -Supports from DREV?


Off of my head, i could already form some combos, like....

1) Opp whack Hamster, Hamster dies
- Set a Ryko through Hamster effect, Special Summon PSB Tanngnjostr
- Next turn flip Ryko to destroy random S/T
- Change PSB Tanngnjostr to ATK mode to SP Gullfaxi
- Synchro for Trishula! (4+3+2)


2) Opp whack PSB Tanngrisnir, SP 2 tokens
- Special Summon PSB Tanngnjostr from hand
- Next turn switch position to Special Summon PSB Gullfaxi
- Tune 2 tokens and PSB Gullfaxi into Polar God Monarch - Thor!
- Activate that random Grow-up Bulb's effect and make a Armory Arm!


3) Opp whack into Gravekeeper's Spy and destroys it.
- Special summon another Spy and a PSB Tanngnjostr from your hand.
- Next turn, switch Tanngnjostr's position to Special Summon PSB Gullfaxi
- Tune the Spy with Gullfaxi for Scrap Dragon!
- Destroy your own Tanngnjostr and your opponent's card or something. +1!


Look at the potential! These guys aren't just normal goats , aren't they?


Wonder what will the Polar Star Spirits will be like...like their anime counterparts perhaps?


Oh well, we'll just have to wait for their effects.


Finally, as a final note, Kizan is too strong!

Thoughts? Am i the only one who thinks the rares (Emmersblade..) and the commons (Hamster..) are more useful? Sure, i know every card has it's uses, but i just don't see myself or others buying 1 box just for the foils. Looks like it's going to be singles for me then..

Learnt a lot today. Going back to tweek my deck a little more.

So, starting this week, there are tournaments using the new Sept 1st Banlist already.

Which means fresh new deck ideas, new meta, etc.

For those whom do not have any ideas on what to run/tech/side, here's some reference for you to take a look.

As you can see, Whirlwind BF is still popping out in almost every team. Frog Emperor took 1st, which was surprising to me @_@.

The idea of Plant-Dragunity also seems very good and consistant, dumping Dandylion and Grow-Up Bulb through the use of Dragon Canyon, and providing 3 nukes with Debris Dragon, should the need arise.

I myself am still considering what to play this Friday/Saturday. So stay tuned for more posts!

What to play next format?

Tough question?

It is to me...

Have no idea what to play for the next format. So many decks to choose from, so many ideas popping out every now and then while i'm studying XD

Obviously, with Black Rose Dragon going to 3, the next top deck would be between...


"QUICKDRAW DANDYWARRIOR VS SALVODAD"



That's right, both of which can just spam Black Rose from 1 card whenever they want to~

Next up in line would be Lightsworn, Blackwings and Gladiator Beast.

With no Heavy Storm and 2 MST, Gladiator Beast won't fear setting all of their M/T now, as they have an easy out to BRD also, the 2 MST's also dealing with Royal Decree @ 3.

More Twilight variants of Lightsworn will start popping out due to the Chaos Sorcerer going to 2.

Blackwings are still going strong even with the loss of 1 Whirlwind and 1 Oppression. Some people have to discussing about converting Blackwings into a Pseudo-Chaos deck, with mained Thunder Kings and Chaos Sorcerer (Not to be confused with Twilight Beat). 2 MST's also help deal with those pesky Bottomless Trap Holes while Delta Crow - Anti Reverse will act as a weakened Heavy Storm for them.


Now, we have those unaffected decks, like Heralds, Dragunity and Machina


Heralds get a boost from 3 Royal Decree.

Dragunity will have to be careful now due to everyone playing 2 MST.

Machina will have to be careful also, due to 3 Cyber Dragons.

3 Cyber Dragons also mean that the CYBER END DECKS ARE BACK! Now i just can Power Bond into Cyber End and smash right into your Ryko~ And drop Honest while i'm at it~

It also means that random Power Bond decks will pop out now. Maybe people will Power Bond summon Cyber Twin and OTK you for all i care. It happened to me once, and it wasn't funny at all.

And there are those other decks which i'm pretty lazy to mention , MGS, Frogs, etcetcetcetcidungiveashit.


That's my perspective.

Explosive Beast Valcanon

1 Machine-Type monster + 1 Pyro-Type monster
When this card is Fusion Summoned, you can select 1 monster your opponent controls. Destroy this card and the selected card and send them to the Graveyard to inflict damage to your opponent equal to the ATK of that selected monster.


So, i was just dabbling around with the card from the VJump Edition Pack, and the most interesting card was this. A "Ring of Destruction" effect, although you don't take damage from it, but in return, this guy has to go too. Although it may seem as a waste of cards as you have to Fusion Summon it which would mean :

- 1 Machine-Type Monster
- 1 Pyro-Type Monster
- 1 Polymerization

+1 Explosive Beast Valcanon

+1 Opponent's monster destroyed
-1 Explosive Beast Valcanon

= -2 in terms of advantage in exchange for potential LP damage to your opponent.


BUT!


When you play with things like GADGETS and VOLCANICS...

It just simplifies to :


-1 Polymerization

in exchange for

+1 Your opponent's monster destroyed + LP damage.


How cool is that? Although i perfectly agree with those whom just wan to Earth Smash the other monster/Fissure/Lightning Vortex/etc.

But i feel that this is a pretty cool concept, combining the self-replacement of Gadgets with the self-replacement of Volcanic Bullets and easy removal and advantage through Volcanic Rocket and Blaze Accelerator.

Wonder if people might make a deck out of it.

I'm trying to, if i can only get another copy of this guy...

Holidays!

The holidays is here! (For me and some others that is...)

The Banlist is coming next week i think!

So the spirit of competition is kinda low for me.

Yup! Expect more posts now that i have nothing to do for 1 month other than studying..

Oyeah, i scrubbed 3 days ago at the Jurong East Tournament with Machina Gadget. Didn't really like that deck anyways. So i'm just sticking to my Cat deck until the banlist is out and crossing my fingers that Rescue Cat won't be banned like those leaked fake lists online on Pojo/otherforums.


Now,i don't really like speculating about these kind of ban list stuff, but i have some cards in mind which WOULD be hit, like....


Trishula!
Infernity Gun!
Infernity Daemon!
Substitoad!


I guess these will definitely get hit, but i'm not really sure about other cards. Machina Gearframe and Fortress might be hit somehow too. Hoping that X-Sabers won't be hurt as we haven't even gotten to use all the gayness yet in the OCG.

BF may not be hit too much either in order to further promote the BF supports which Crow will use in future episodes, also promoting the sales of the Duelist Pack! Because its all about $$$ for our Konami!

I'm pretty sure that Substitoad will 100% get hit (Mind Master says Hi!), hence destroying the Frog FTK and hurting Frog Monarchs.

Looking forward to Storm of Ragnarok and EXP3!

Project work kills!

School says it's called "E-Learning Week".


I say : Go and eat shit. So much project work? Two 1.5k word reports + other random crap is not my idea of learning at home...

Yarh, so that's what i have been doing for the past whole week. No time for YGO this week, so missed quite a few tournaments. So not much things to blog about. I dismantled my Cat Synchro as i was a little bored with it already, plus bad scrubbing streak still hurts =P Changed into another deck to play with for next week! Can't wait for STBL and my new Elec supports!

Meanwhile, on the news side, Fleur Synchron and Fleur de Chevalier makes buying Tag Force 5 worth it!! I like how Fleur Synchron is abusable with Gadgets, while Chevalier is used in Quickdraw. Cool, good supports imo.

Starstrike Blast : Cards i'm looking forward to!

I was going to do a post on some cards in EXP3. Then i realized that everyone should have already known what are the good cards in it and what to look out for (X-Sabers , Hamster). So instead, i'm doing a post on what cards i'm looking forward to in Starstrike Blast.

1st : Elecs!

- Yup, these are the cards which i'm looking forward to the most. They will have their own Elec Wall (2 Crickets) which won't die to Brionac/Book of Moon! They will get their own COTH, Dragonfly would be like a Naturia Cliff for Elecs but abit weaker. Finally, Eleccastle and Eleckeeper are supports which Elecs need right now : Attack modification and resurrection to rush more. Expect me to come up with some random decklist after i can these cards.


2nd : Shooting Star Dragon + Formula Synchron

- Yup, the much looked forward to concept of Accel Synchro! Formula Synchron is easy to summon with any 1 star Tuner + Kinka-byo , as shown in a video posted by Duelingdays. Stardust is already easy to summon out with so many decks. Formula Synchron also acts as a protection for Stardust in case your opponent tries to remove it somehow, then you can just Accel Synchro for Shooting Star Dragon! I'll get 1 of each for collection, or more if it becomes a popular deck to play.


3rd : Power Breaker and Karakuri Ninja

- One word : Splashable. Power Breaker can be potential side deck tech against decks like BF. While Ninja is splashble in decks with its good effect. Sending Stardust to the grave is not funny at all, although it's DEF is rather weak compared to Snowman Eater.


All these are just the tip of the iceberg in my opinion, as the complete spoiler is not out yet. There might be even better cards in this set, so stay tuned for updates at Shriek

Not really playable currently.

The only thing we can make the deck around would be the Gottoms loop, discarding your opponent's entire hand. then rushing for game.

Very little people would bother trying X-Sabers now, not until EXP3 is out, when we have Fullhelmknight , Emmersblade and to a lesser extent , Gardestrike

Back to school...

School reopens again tomorrow, which means back to poly life for me.. @_@

Anyways, the 2 weeks of holidays were as if it wasn't holidays... more than 1 week was spent on the stupid GK summit event at school, plus projects = like school days liddat.. Regardless, there was still time for me to go down and play more often, including World Qualifers, which was damm sad.

Also, there is a Tag Team tournament on 10th July!! Long time no see!! Although i don't have meta decks such as BF and Infernity, which would be good to run in pairs, i'll still try to find a partner for it. Plus, i got alot of new stuff within these new days (wallet feels empty -_-''), which can let me build more decks =P

Finally, my project presentation for Social Enterprise is on Thursday. Hope i don't screw this one up like IT APP. Retarded teachers give retarded grades, thats all i can say.

Random thought while doing project at friend's house!

Firstly, after some persuading from Chard-sama , I have decided to continue playing my dear Synchro Cat deck~ If Redempt can continue playing Lightlords and dominate with it, i don't see the reason why i can't.

Editted the entire decklist though, needed some changes to fight with BF/Infernity.

Then, looks like Ken's coming to SG next week! Really like how one blogger after another is coming to SG. First is Andrew, then Ken, who's next? Mike?

Finally, i need some Swap Frogs and Treeborn Frogs!!! Someone sell/trade/give me some please!!

Yeah, scrubbed at nationals today.

Sold some stuff, bought some stuff, that's about it. Watched Redempt play in Top 8 but he sadly lost. Jeric got 2nd, so grats to him!

My matchups were BF, Frog FTK, Colin Superspecial Synchron Delight, Frog Monarch and BF. Let's just say that the frogs screwed up my scores. Yeah, i hate Frogs now, sharing the same hatred as Blackie. Nvm, next time will have stuff to counter them le.

Putting my Synchro Cat into a nice deckbox and leaving it on the shelf for awhile, cause abit tired of playing it for so long. Time to change deck again!

Day before World Qualifer!

Yup, it's the night before the big day!

Preparing a lot of things to bring for tmr. My album , spare cards to sell , deck, sidedeck and extra deck, and a lot of stupid stuff such as calculator,paper, etcetcetcetcetecetc.

I think i might take a break from YGO after tmr. Gotta start working on those holiday projects which are not done =P

Meanwhile, i'm eager to get the new Elec support which will be coming in Star Strike Blast! Gotta love those cute Pikachu-like animals!

Also, i've been thinking of a good Gadget build to play with. Dun think i'll play the Machina build since Chimeratech Fortress will pop out after tomorrow.

Countdown : 4 days more!

It's 4 more days to World Qualifiers, and everyone is up and training rigorously for it (i think?)

Anyways, i have been a bit slacking these few days from training due to stuff from school and class parties, so..hehehehehehe. *i think i better continue soon...*

Meanwhile, i finalized the decklist for my deck which i'm taking to Pomo this Sunday! Added some minor changes to the side deck and the main so that i can deal with the minority decks which would appear such as Lightlords, Froggy Monarch, Synchro Cat, etc etc.

Scrubbed at the Jurong East Trishula Tournament last Saturday, so there wasn't really anything to write about. But i guess i'll be joining the Trishula tournament this Friday, which would be in the World Qualifier's format, which means NO GETTING TRISHULA-ED 3 TIMES!!!!!

Couldn't meet Andrew yesterday since it was my class party. I guess i'll meet him at locals this week or something.

Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG NATIONAL TOURNAMENT 2010 SINGAPORE FINALS

It's almost the same format as before, except that there is a elimination round at first, in order to cut the number down to 64. The elimination round score will also be determined by how fast you finish your match.

Sianz....my deck takes quite long to run one leh...


Anyways, i'll have to speed up my plays then. Fast thinking would be required for me.

Also, about the calculation for the swiss rounds. All i can say is...

Dun give a damm about it. Thinking about it will just make you more worried about some shit which you're not suppose to give a damm about. Instead, just focus on thrashing your opponent, smashing his face into the ground and claiming absolute victory....something along that line.

That's basically why i didn't really read through the calculation method, all i do is to win , win , win , win , win , win , win and.....oh yeah , WIN!

Also, its a cut from 64 to Top 8. So only 1/8 of the people would make it. So... yarh, i already emphasised on the "keep on winning or fuck off" part.

Yup... I can't imagine losing in the elimination round... @_@

Nah, that won't happen. I won't allow it to happen.


Ok! on a brighter and more non-serious tone, i have finally finished my deck for the Qualifers! Serves me right for submitting my decklist with cards which i don't even have yet =P

Synchro Cat VS Infernity

If they have Trishula, then it would be a uphill battle for me. However, with no Trishula's, i would say that i'm standing on even footing with them, take wins and loses here and there.


Synchro Cat VS Blackwings

I'm starting to get the momentum on how to fight BF. Timings for disruption had to be critical. Overall, after play-testing here and there, i was leading by quite a abit. Boosted my confidence of BF matchups!

Synchro Cat VS Quickdraw Dandywarrior

Yup, that deck is still freaking irritating. Caius after Caius after Caius.... But still, i can handle that matchup. Side decked properly and was able to fight it with certain ease, although there are also some loses.

Synchro Cat VS Psycho Shocker Synchro

Luckily i won't be seeing this at World Qualifers. No Birdman love!

In conclusion, today really helped a lot for me. Not only am i more confident of BF matchups now(just a little), i also got a brief view of the distribution of the decks which could appear at World Qualifers. Nice day i would say.

Random things happening at home #2

Yeah, I think i'm going to go ahead with these posts until my exams has ended, since i can't go out in the meantime. Life sucks without my laptop and the earliest it will be repaired is this Thursday. Talk about being accurate, saying it will take "3-5 working days" when the earliest return date is 1 WEEK already.....

WTF right?

Anyways, some updates on what i've been doing in the meantime :

1) Worked out goals which my deck is suppose to achieve within each round of a match! This is kinda cool since i can alter the choices of stuff to put in in order to achieve the goal. Goal =/= get into Top 16/8 kind of goal.

Eg. Infernity focuses to win Game 1 with their gay loop ASAP, since Game 2 and 3 would be focused on attempting to do the loop WITH protection from disturbances.

It's coming along ok, although i haven't really tested it. Going to test it this Friday.

2) My project presentation is tmr! Wish me luck guys! Hope to get a A+!!!

3) Only 2 common tests and it's TERM BREAK! Some more both tests are MCQ!!!!!!!!

4) World Qualifiers is in 19 days! And i haven't even practiced one single tiny bit...

5) There isn't any 5, since i can't think of any right now. Wait......nope, no idea what to type here.

6) Yeah! Thought of something to type here! Want to try a new deck!!!

Yeah, exams is in 2 weeks and i can't go out...even though its just a few papers.

I'm preparing for my project presentation on Wednesday, which is rather important to my grades.

Here's somethings which happened at home this week :


1) Couldn't go to locals at all..But might sneak out to one next week.

2) Playtested World Qualifier deck, which proves to be good.

3) Revised Econs and Business Management.

4) Randomly formed a deck consisting of Machina and Synchro Cat =P

5) No.4 actually kinda worked, but i didn't like it. Using Fortress + Keymouse was random.


Yarp. That's really summed up my week.

And no laptop is soooooooo boring...

Like Clarence, participating in tournies with his BF deck without promo, i'm going to try that too!

No choice, since World Qualifiers are 1 month away.

Although i'm going to take it slowly, since its a little hard to suddenly take out all the promos in my deck and play.

Right now, i'm going to only play 1 Promo , which will be Gorz.

I'll decide on what to replace it with later.

In other news, now we have to submit our decklist and register for the World Qualifiers online! Pretty cool , and its about time they did this since its WAY more efficient this way.

The format for World Qualifiers has changed back to Swiss, which is a relief.

There's a Trishula Starlight tourney @ Jurong East this week, and i'm SO going for it. Its about time i owned a Trishula, if i can get it....

There's also a Trishula tournament in the start of June.

AND , theres the Duel Kingdom tournament spreaded over May, June and July , which also has a Secret Trishula as the grand prize.

All in all , its going to be great for the month of May and June.

Must take this opportunity to play as much as possible , before the school term starts again in July

I fell ill on Wednesday and was in bed all the way until 3o minutes ago when i finally was able to get up.

39 degree fever + running nose really does a lot to your body.

But , even though BZSE T01 is the best class i have ever had, i still feel that i'm still not really a part of the class yet. Maybe its because of what happened during Secondary school, so i'm still kinda affect by it.

I love Synchro Cat now!!! Absolutely 100% love it now, even IF it loses.

Maining Tragoedia is also a good choice which i took up.

While i don't main 2 Doomcalibur Knight, i main 2 Raiou, as its kinda a trend happening in Japan.

I'm considering running 1 My Body as a Shield, but i have yet to find space.

Head on over to Shriek.

You can see that there are 3-4 Synchro Cat decks which topped.

I think its a good choice for using 2-3 Raious.

It counters BF and Infernity, while providing a LIGHT beatstick, which becomes food for Chaos Sorcerer (for some builds)

Also, i see some Snowman-Eaters, which is hard to get over with its 1900 DEF. Its effect also almost always provides a +1 unless your opponent can get over it , which would be an instant trade off.

It's nice to see that these are topping, even over on the TCG side.

And yeah, i'm testing out Synchro Cat too!

Sugary Treats and Yu-Gi-Oh!

Mum came back from her trip to Taiwan.

She brought back A LOT OF gum/sweets/stuffwhichmakesyourbrainwork.

So much that i'm deciding to bring some tomorrow to locals either at Khatib or Jurong East to share with my friends.

Sugar keeps your brain working, and i think that it also applies to Yugimonz too.

They should distribute some sweets to players in between every few rounds at the World/Asia Qualifiers. Because seriously, the amount of stress there is VERY HIGH.

Change of mindset

I know.

There is still quite some time before World Qualifiers.

But its a sorta good timing to start changing your mindset bit by bit in preparation.

Heard that the World Qualifiers would start for Malaysia on the 2nd of May.

If that month would be ours too, then we have around 1 month to prepare only!


Stuff that will happen :

1) If you get a Heavy Storm, you will NOT hesitate to use it, unless it makes you lose advantage.

2) No reliance on promos like Raiou/Gorz. BF just became abit harder to beat.

3) Malevolent Catastrophe would be widely used (As mentioned on previous post)

4) Trap Stun would be widely used too to prevent Icarus Attack and Malevolent Catastrophe.

5) Infernity decks will have no Trishula, but they can still summon alot of Synchros to beat.

Ate dinner together and then went home.
